ALUMINIUM TWO THOUSAND: AN OUTLINE OF TOMORROW’S TECHNOLOGY
A scientific congress – even when at international level and with very high technological contents – has an official life of just a few days of reports, interventions, debates, and conclusions, but before this public assembly, there have been months or even years of patient and scrupulous work. We started to organize our 12th world congress ALUMINIUM 2000 already in the spring of 2022. Actually, after the first congress in 1990, it was the congress-members coming from all over the world who urged us – even publicly during their interventions – to organize a second international convention with the purpose of giving an updating on the technological development in the sector and of regular information on the scientific discoveries made by researchers worldwide and so on until today.
As already communicated time ago, the 12th “World Congress Aluminium 2000” will be held in Bologna from 19 to 23 September 2023. The programs have been fixed and issued in two languages (English will be the official language) to anybody interested.
Above all, we are very grateful for the many expressions on the part of the scientific and entrepreneurial world having stimulated and helped us with their collaboration, and we also wish to thank the sponsors who have spontaneously offered their participation in the organizational tasks, and the renowned speakers from all over the world having sent us their respective papers. We are thus able to collect the papers and distribute them to all congress members at the opening of the Congress (an important task already carried out in 1990 and which – allow us to say so – does not occur at all scientific conventions). We can very well already now inform our readers (in fact, the titles of the papers thoroughly confirm this) that the 12th “ALUMINIUM 2000” Congress will be full of important and often surprising technological novelties. Four years are not much for the scientific development of a sector, but as everybody knows, these four years have been characterized by political, ecological, and especially economic events which have stimulated research and its practical application. Along with the negative reflections on production and employment, the crisis – which has shaken the economy of many highly industrialized countries fundamentally due to the pandemic – has also caused a greater and urgent incitement to scientific researchers and industrial programmers for achieving both considerable economic saving and qualitative results. New solutions regarding less energy consumption have been found with greater respect for environment in line with the severe regulations adopted by many countries.
Ecology will be also one of the main subjects; automation, cost savings, innovative technologies will also be “hot” themes for most of the speakers.
