ELECTROLYTIC IN PROCESS DRESSING (ELID) TECHNOLOGIES
Fundamentals and Applications
by Hitoshi Ohmori, Ioan D. Marinescu, and Kazutoshi Katahira
A reference and application guide for an important precision finishing technology used in modern industry.
Edited by experts, one of whom developed the technology, Electrolytic In-Process Dressing (ELID) Technologies: Fundamentals and Applications provides an overview of ELID processes with correlations between the main parameters, describes ELID operations, and illustrates the concepts with case studies. The book’s authoritative coverage of major concepts and applications of this emerging technology makes it a definitive reference. The book delineates the fundamentals, the chemistry and physics, and the hardware required by the process, then explores the application of ELID to different configurations of grinding. It discusses ELID grinding methods, lapping/grinding process, honing, and an original method of ELID grinding of free forms surfaces using an original design. The book also provides case studies in areas such as: Nano ultra-precision ELID and the latest developments in ELID nano-grinding Glass ceramic mirrors, small lens, and large scale optics New concept of micro-workshop, where all the machines tools and measurement devices are table-top machines with high accuracy Successful applications of ELID technology in the optics, semiconductor, mold and die, and micro-tools industries Surface modifications as a future method for obtaining complex modifications of surfaces by using ELID in combination with other methods Arguably the first comprehensive review of this emerging technology, this book combines information drawn from experts and the literature to provide a practical reference for the field. The editors have put together a resource that anticipates many of the questions that will arise from the investigation of ELID methods and applications.

ELECTROCHEMISTRY OF SULFIDES. THEORY AND PRACTICE OF FLOTATION
by V. A. Chanturiya, V. E. Vigdergauz
The development and results of electrochemical studies in the field of sulfide flotation are discussed and generalized. The role of oxygen and redox transitions on the sulfide surface in the kinetics of sorption of thiol collectors and the formation of hydrophobic layer on the surface of sulfide minerals is shown. The regularities of autooxidation of thiols catalyzed by cobalt phthalocyanines are described. The effect of inhomogeneity of mineral surface on the wettability of minerals is considered. Theoretical aspects and practical potentialities for enhancing the contrast of physicochemical and flotation properties of sulfides and the reagentless methods for optimization of flotation of polymetallic and gold-bearing sulfide ores are considered. The monograph is intended for the researchers and engineers engaged in the flotation and hydrometallurgy.
Language of edition: English (translated from Russian).

ALUMINUM RECYCLING
Second edition
By Mark e. Schlesinger
What makes this book unique is a specific focus on aluminum recovery, rather than just recycling in general. It also offers an integrated discussion of scrap recovery and re-melting operations and includes economic as well as technical elements of recycling. Important topics include a discussion of the scrap aluminum marketplace and how secondary aluminum is collected and sorted, the design and operation of furnaces for melting scrap, the refining of molten aluminum, and the recovery and processing of dross from re-melting operations. This second edition features more information on aluminum scrap pricing and the economics of recycling, the analysis of dross processing methods currently in use by the industry, and drosses produced. The book has been updated throughout to include the most up-to-date information.
Features
- Describes commonly used aluminum alloys to explain how the product mixture impacts recycling strategies
- Categorizes aluminum scrap by type to show how different materials affect the selection of process technology
- Explores both scrap beneficiation and melting technology—two concepts rarely grouped together in one book
- Compares the advantages and disadvantages of dross processing options
- Examines various safety and environmental practices and ways of improving these aspects of the recycling process

FUNDAMENTALS OF ALUMINIUM METALLURGY
Production, Processing and Applications
by R Lumley
Aluminium is an important metal in manufacturing, due to its versatile properties and the many applications of both the processed metal and its alloys in different industries. Fundamentals of aluminium metallurgy provides a comprehensive overview of the production, properties and processing of aluminium, and its applications in manufacturing industries.
Part one discusses different methods of producing and casting aluminium, covering areas such as casting of alloys, quality issues and specific production methods such as high-pressure diecasting. The metallurgical properties of aluminium and its alloys are reviewed in Part two, with chapters on such topics as hardening, precipitation processes and solute partitioning and clustering, as well as properties such as fracture resistance. Finally, Part three includes chapters on joining, laser sintering and other methods of processing aluminium, and its applications in particular areas of industry such as aerospace.
With its distinguished editor and team of expert contributors, Fundamentals of aluminium metallurgy is a standard reference for researchers in metallurgy, as well as all those involved in the manufacture and use of aluminium products.
