MANY NOVELTIES UNDER THE SUN
(of Planet Aluminium)

After a few years of slow-down in the development of new technologies in the various areas of the aluminium industry, new intense researches have led to the development of many industrial applications and new patents, probably thanks to the economic crisis that struck the industrial
world from 2008 to 2013. 2015 will therefore be the perfect year to discover the technologies that might give new incentives to the development of aluminium and to the industries connected to it.
We can realize how many important novelties there are by reading the titles and the contents of the presentations that are arriving from numerous researchers whicht will be presented at the 9th Aluminium Two Thousand World Congress, that will take place in Florence, 12-16 May 2015.

The next congress will be even more important than previous editions thanks to a great novelty: the Aluminium Two Thousand congress will be held together with ICEB, the International Conference on Extrusion and Benchmark. The two events will bring together “aluminium and light alloys” specialists in a single venue, creating a very attractive and unique opportunity for industry managers, technicians, researchers,
technology suppliers and other qualifi ed speakers for meeting and understanding the latest researches, discoveries and the trends for the future.
After 8 editions the Aluminium Two Thousand has become a very important and irreplaceable meeting point for all the operators working in the Aluminum industry. Highly qualifi ed “Aluspecialist” from companies, universities and associations come from all over the world to present to a
specialized and international audience the most innovative technologies and applications in the aluminium field.

The International Conference on Extrusion and Benchmark (ICEB) has become the biggest event in Europe related to the recent developments on Extrusion Technology and its analysis by FEM simulation. The aim of the conference is to join together technical and scientifi c experts, to widespread their knowledge and to form an international community for the discussion of state of the art, as well as future developments, in the fi eld of extrusion and in its most powerful tool, the numerical simulation.
Also for this 2015 edition the ICEB conference will keep all its main features, by merging technical sessions on the “Latest advances in the extrusion of light alloys” with the contest “Extrusion Benchmark” of simulation codes.
As co-chairman of the congress, together with Prof. Luca Tomesani, I look forward to seeing you in Florence: your participation will contribute to the success of the congress.

Truly yours,

Dr. Walter Dalla Barba
Editor and Aluminium Two Thousand Chairman
